Position Summary:

Bergen Cty, NJ; Bronx & Manhattan area - Must reside near territory

The CVS Caremark Clinical Consultant provides academic detailing services. Each consultant works from home and has a panel of up to 250 provider offices that they visit in person every 5-6 weeks. This involves visiting 8-10 different practices per day, pre-call planning and running of reports, and documenting your activities in post-call notes. In this regard, the job is much like that of a pharmaceutical manufacturer representative job. However, there are many differences in that you will be more heavily leveraging your skills as a pharmacist to affect changes in prescribing behavior and drive the best use of the patients’ benefits. Core job functions include:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding the work flow for the assigned offices, how prescriptions are handled, and their “pain-points” in interacting with CVS Caremark
• Introduce CVS Caremark’s new service model for high volume practices and insure that offices know how to leverage the program to relieve pain points
• Insure a positive working relationship with the practices and CVS Caremark 
• Use internally generated reports to track the offices’ mail utilization, as well as eRx and ePA utilization 
• Use tools and materials provided to:
o drive increases in mail utilization by gaining agreement with the physician and/or office staff to advocate for moving patients into more cost-effective channels for their medications ie. mail service, 
o optimize offices’ use of eRx and ePA
• Serve as a resource in troubleshooting all prescription related issues for the assigned provider practices
• Use internally generated reports to discuss patient specific opportunities to improve quality of care (for example, gaps in care)

Required Qualifications:

8-9 years of experience as a practicing Pharmacist
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong customer-focus 
Ability to develop persuasive customer presentations
Detail oriented with a commitment to prompt follow-up 
Self motivated

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in detailing providers/staff

Education:

Minimum of a BS in Pharmacy
